Dear Colleague,

As our understanding of the mechanisms of action and effects of estrogen and other estrogen receptor (ER) ligands such as selective estrogen-receptor modulators (SERMs) improves, integration of this knowledge into patient care is essential for preventing and treating menopause-related conditions.

Welcome to the ER Physiology Challenge, an online activity that is part of the educational initiative EMPREss: Enhancing Menopause management through understanding the Physiology of Receptors of Estrogen.

The ER Physiology Challenge, developed through a unique partnership of educational organizations including The North American Menopause Society, Penn State College of Medicine, and Indicia Medical Education, LLC, includes multiple-choice questions that will challenge your knowledge—and more importantly, your confidence in this knowledge—of ER physiology. This interactive activity, in conjunction with the other components of EMPREss, will help clinicians optimize care for their female patients during the menopause transition.

Other components of EMPREss include:
Journal and Conference Summaries, Issue #1
Journal and Conference Summaries, Issue #2
Multiperspective Case Consults, Case #1
Multiperspective Case Consults, Case #2
Multiperspective Case Consults, Case #3

Thank you for your interest in this interactive activity and in improving the care of women at menopause and beyond. We look forward to receiving your feedback and suggestions.

Yours truly,

Donald P. McDonnell, PhD
Chair, ER Physiology Challenge
